Central Department of Geology, Kirtipur, Kathmandu has organized a farewell program on 2019/02/27 at Seminar hall of the department to professor and students of MSc Engineering Geology Program of Central Department of Geology as well as professor and students of the Department of Geology, Tri-Chandra Campus who are going to visit Japan under the JSTSakura-Science Student Exchange Program. Ten students and two professors are going to visit Shimane University, Japan from February 27-March 07, 2019 and participating various lectures, meetings and laboratory exercises.
Five students of MSc Engineering Geology Program, Mr. AnishKhanal, Ms.AnjilaBabuMalia, Mr.AnkitDhakal, Ms. Deepa Pokharel, Mr. RiteshSapkota from Central Department of Geology and five students of MSc Engineering Geology Program Mr. Bishwas Sharma, Mr.DhurbaTiwari, Ms.PratikshaRawat, Mr.PramodDhakal, Ms. Padma Nepal, Department of Geology, Tri-Chandra Campus are visiting Shimane University with two professors. Dr. Ranjan Kumar Dahal, Reader of Central Department of Geology is leading the team along with Dr.Ananta Prasad Gajurel, Reader and Head of Department of Department of Geology, Tri-Chandra Campus for this exchange program. Prof. Tetsuya Sakai and Prof. Fawu Wang of Shimane University are hosting this exchange program and it is considered as one of the special programs between Shimane University and Tribhuvan University for the promotion of natural disaster reduction science in the Himalaya.
During the Farewell program, Prof Ram Prasad Khatiwada, Dean of Institute of Science and Technology, Prof BhupaNathDhamala, Director, International Relation Centre, Tribhuvan University, and Prof Lalu Prasad Poudel, Head of Department of Central Department of Geology have delivered congratulatory speech and suggested the visiting team for the better performance and successful participation in the various programs, lectures and events.
Likewise, three PhD students from the Central Department of Geology, Mr. KanchanChaulagai, Mr. Champak BabuSilwal, and Mr. Drona Adhikari are going to visit Shimane University to participate in the UNESCO Chair 2019 Field School on Geoenvironmental Disaster Reduction in Shimane University, Japan. These students are visiting Japan from March 13 to March 19, 2019 and will be benefited by high class lectures from esteem professors from various countries on the geoenvironmental disaster reduction. In the farewell program, those three PhD Scholar were also congratulated.
